Differences between IBPS and SSC exam

While preparing for government exams, the students mainly focus on SSC and IBPS. At a broader level, the syllabus looks somewhat similar. But, there are substantial differences between these two exams.

Pace Academy, one the best Bank PO coaching institutes in Delhi, discusses the major differences between IBPS and SSC exam.

Exam Pattern

The IBPS exam paper consists of five sections, but the question paper of SSC CGL has only four questions. There is strict sectional cut off for IBPS, which means you have to clear each section to qualify.

Separate section for computer

You need to emphasize on computer knowledge while preparing IBPS examination. This is because there is a section with questions from the field of computers. You might also find few questions related to computers in your SSC CGL exam. But, in IBPS question paper, there are 20 questions that you need to solve.

Current affairs in IBPS

There are several questions on current affairs in IBPS paper. This is why you need to stay updated by referring newspapers, year book, and notes from coaching institutes. In SSC exams, somewhat less weight age is given to the current affairs. You might find only three or four questions related to it.

English section

In SSC CGL, you will receive 50 questions from English section. The number of questions in IBPS from this section is 40. The IBPS question paper focuses on comprehension and English usage skills, whereas you will find a lot of questions related to synonyms, idioms and phrases in SSC.

Banking knowledge

If you are preparing for banking exams, you are required to have basic knowledge from banking sector. You will get questions from financial developments, functioning of banks, banking terminology, and RBI-related questions. In SSC, these types of questions are limited to one or two.

These are just general differences between these two government job examinations. You need to consult your teachers from coaching institute for the same. We, at Pace Academy, have always helped our students have clarity about the structure and pattern of these exams. This is why we are considered the best bank coaching institute from Gurgaon.
