JE Written Examination-2017

Junior Engineer (JE) Written test will be comprised of two question papers viz., Paper-I and Paper-II. Paper-I will have Objective Type Multiple Choice questions where candidates will choose one correct option from the options and Paper-II will be of conventional type.

Details about JE Question Paper-I

  • All the questions in paper-I will be of objective type and candidates will have to choose one most appropriate answer form the four options given below the questions.
  • Candidates need to darken the oval with black ball pen with the right option of the respective questions in the OMR sheet which will be provided to all the candidates in the examination,
  • The time duration of the question paper will be 2 hours and timing will be from 10 am to 12 pm as shown in the table.

Negative Marking

There will be the provision of negative marking in the question paper and 1/4th marks of the questions will be deducted as penalty for wrong answers.

Details about JE Question Paper-II

  • The second question paper will be of descriptive nature and all the candidates need to have extensive knowledge of all the topics asked in the examination along with excellent writing skills.
  • The duration of the question paper is of 2 hours and the timing will be from 02pm to 04 pm.

Note for the Candidates for written Examination

  • Paper -I and Paper-III for General Engineering, the candidate will be required to attempt only one part i.e. Part-A or Part-B or Part-C as per option given in the application form by the candidate.
  • Candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Civil), Junior Engineer (Quantity Surveying & Contract) should attempt Part A (Civil & Structural) of Paper-I and Paper-II and the candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Electrical) should attempt Part-B (Electrical) and the candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Mechanical) should attempt Part C (Mechanical) of Paper-I and Paper II failing which he/she would be awarded zero marks.
  • Candidates are allowed to bring their own Slide–Rule, Non Programmable Calculator, Logarithm Tables and Steam Table for Paper-II only. They are not allowed to use such aids for Paper-I.

Personality Test (Interview)

  • Personality test will be of 100 marks and it will be conducted by the board appointed by SSC for the purpose.
  • Candidates, who attain minimum qualifying marks in the written examination, are invited by the commission to prove their suitability for the job through Personality Test/Interview.
